Summer SchoolJames Wood High School will be offering core courses for credit recovery this summer. Courses will be offered through APEX, a computer based program. The APEX program allows students to complete a course on-line while being monitored by a teacher from James Wood High School. JWHS Summer School is being offered for the purpose of credit recovery. Students will be limited to 2 recovery courses in Summer School. New courses will only be offered if there are available seats after credit recovery registration.

Applications will be accepted online via the James Wood High School website beginning May 20, with a deadline of 11:59 p.m. on June 18. First priority will be given to rising Seniors who need to recover credit for the 2020-2021 school year.

Approved applicants will be notified by email with instructions on how to make online payment. Once payment is received the student will receive instructions via email on how to start the course.

Classes will start on June 10 and must be completed by August 10. All work will be done virtually. Students must have internet access in order to take a summer school course. Teachers will meet with students virtually via Google Meet as needed and requested by the student.

Grading: Grades for Summer School will be based on the FCPS grading scale. Students MUST pass the Midterm and Final tests in order to be awarded credit for the course.

Fees: Credit recovery courses cost $250 per course and $125 per semester course. A new course will cost $325 and $165 for a semester course. New courses are subject to availability. All fees must be paid in advance via MySchoolBucks. No refunds will be given after a course has started.

Schedule: Applications are due June 18 by 11:59 p.m. Classes start on June 10 and must be completed by Aug 10.
