New Block Schedule SCOPE and Lunch Information

New Block Schedule SCOPE and Lunch Information
Posted on 08/10/2018

SCOPE is an acronym for Study, Communicate/Collaborate, Organize, Plan, Enrich.  SCOPE replaces study hall, which students at JWHS were enrolled in previous years.  Instead of having a daily, 24 minute study hall, each student will now have an 88 minute SCOPE period every other day.  This period will be utilized by students to:  complete homework assignments, study for upcoming tests/exams, monitor grades, completing make-up work, further delving into an academic topic covered in class, to stay organized, to collaborate with other students.  This period will also be utilized for remediation and to implement PBIS initiatives….

New this year with our full block schedule, lunch periods will now no longer show on a student’s schedule.  At JWHS, four lunch periods are held daily during fifth and sixth periods.  It is possible that students will eat at a different time each day.

What periods students eat lunch is based on what class they are in during their fifth or sixth period class.  On the first two days of school, all students are expected to report directly to their fifth & sixth period class.  The classes that eat A Lunch on those days will be quickly sent to the cafeteria to eat lunch.
