LFCC Lord Fairfax Community CollegeBased on your student's course selections, he/she may be eligible to dual enroll with Lord Fairfax Community College. Below is a list of the course options available at James Wood High School for the 2019-20 school year.

If your student is scheduled to take any of these courses and would like to participate in the Dual Enrollment program, please complete the following steps.

For NEW Dual Enrollment Students

  1. Apply to LFCC
  2. See Mrs. Humphreys, Career Coach, humphrem@fcpsk12.net
  3. Check course requirements and take the appropriate Virginia Placement Test (VPT) as needed

    • Placement Testing will be offered at James Wood from August 19 - August 22 starting at 2:30 p.m. each day. Sign up in the Guidance office. Seats for testing at James Wood are limited and are on a first-come first-serve basis
    • Placement Testing may also be handled at the LFCC Testing Center.

    In the Fall of 2019

  4. Payments should be made online through MySchoolBucks
  5. Fill out and sign the purple and yellow Dual Enrollment forms (provided to students in the fall)

For RETURNING Dual Enrollment Students

  1. See Mrs. Humphreys, Career Coach, humphrem@fcpsk12.net
  2. Check course requirements and take the appropriate Virginia Placement Test (VPT) as needed

  3. In the Fall of 2019

  4. Payments should be made online through MySchoolBucks
  5. Print out LFCC transcript (this will need to be attached to your forms)
  6. Fill out and sign the purple and yellow Dual Enrollment forms (provided to students in the fall)
Tuition rates will be $40.65 per credit hour plus an auxillary fee of $27 per semester. Mountain Vista Governor School students do not pay the auxillary fee for dual enrolled courses at JWHS. This will be in the fees associated with MVGS.

Course example: English 11 (English 111): $40.65 x 3 (credits) = $121.95 + 27 (auxillary fee charged 1 time per semester) = $148.95
