Yearbook distribution
continues today. Anyone who has ordered and paid for a yearbook can pick it up today in room 320 during the following blocks:
Block 1
Block 6A and 6B
Block 7 until 2:15

Please ask your teacher for permission before coming to pick up your yearbook.

Do you want to be a part of next year’s cross country team? There is a pre-season interest meeting for anyone who wants to be a part of the Cross Country team this Wednesday, May 30, starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Auditorium. Bring a parent. You will get information about the summer off-season conditioning program and the start of the season.

Attention Track & Field Athletes! The end-of-season celebration and pot-luck dinner is this Thursday, May 31, from 6 - 9 pm in the cafeteria. Check the team’s Web site to see what you need to bring.

The Boys’ and Girls’ Outdoor Track & Field Teams competed last Wednesday and Friday in the Region 4C Outdoor Track & Field Championship. The girls finished 5th overall, and the boys finished 6th overall. Rene Rosso led the girls’ team, winning the 100 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles, finishing 2nd in the high jump, long jump, and the 200 meter dash, and 3rd in the triple jump. Her triple jump put her at #1 on James Wood’s all-time record list, breaking Robin Landes’s record which had stood since 1982, and her triple jump improved her #1 all-time mark. Brooke Sandy finished 6th in the high jump, and Kiara Gilkerson finished 6th in the 400 meter dash. For the boys, Chance Grove won the discus throw. Dominic Revetta finished 3rd in the shot put. Will Crowder finished 3rd in the 100 meter dash, and 4th in the 200 meter dash. His time in the 100 meter dash places him 3rd all-time at James Wood. Ethan Pierce finished 5th in the 3200 meter run, and Nathan Shade finished 6th in the 1600 meter run. 8 athletes will represent James Wood at next week’s state championship. Rene Rosso will compete in the 100 meter hurdles, 200 meter dash, 300 meter hurdles, high jump, long jump, and triple jump. Kenzie Konyar will compete in the 3200 meter run. Brooke Sandy will compete in the high jump. Dominic Revetta will compete in both the shot put and discus throw. Will Crowder will compete in both the 100 meter and 200 meter dash. Chance Grove will compete in the discus throw. Kevin Konyar will compete in the 3200 meter run. And Drake Tews will compete in the high jump.
