US Marines
will have a representative in Guidance today, February 13th at 11:00.  Please stop by the Guidance office for a pass, if you are interested in speaking with their representative.

There will be a Girls Soccer interest meeting tonight at 7:00 in the cafeteria.

There will be an Outdoor Track & Field Meeting for all interested athletes and their parents Tonight, February 13th, at 6 pm in the auditorium.

French Club is having a Mardi Gras celebration after school Today (Mardi) in the cafeteria from 2:45 - 4:30.  Please sign up in room 115 and see Mr. Reddy if you have any questions.

Spanish Club.  There will be a Spanish Club meeting tomorrow after school in the cafeteria.  Come for the food, the culture, and the fun.

The next Leo Club meeting will be Wednesday, February 14th, right after school in Mrs. Leonard’s room 230. Stop by Mrs. Leonard’s Room today to sign up for events.

Wednesday, February 14 the JWHS Band will be sponsoring a Chipoltle Night.  Bring you Valentine to Chipoltle and say you are there to support the JWHS Band and Color Guard.  Times for the fundraiser are from 5 PM to 9 PM.  Hope to see you there!

Senior Spirit Day: Valentine’s High School Sweet-Tarts Day, February 14th, twin with your “Sweet-Tart” or Bestie.  Stop by the library with your twin for a sweet treat!  If you don’t have a senior shirt, put your name in a drawing to win one!

FCCLA wants to remind members to come to room 107 after school today to create “Valentines For Veterans” as part of FCCLA Week and wear red tomorrow!

James Wood baseball tryouts begin Feb 19th. Signup sheet and all the information regarding tryouts is on the baseball bulletin board located right outside the boys locker room by the main gym. 
 
Softball tryouts are February 19-21 from 3:00-5:00 PM. 
 
Academically gifted
sophomores and juniors who are interested in applying for GIS for next year can pick up an  application in guidance now.  Completed applications are due to the guidance secretary by Wednesday, February 21st.

If you are interested in helping with set design and painting, please see Mrs. Woshner or Mr. Largent for the Google Classroom code.  We will start painting set on Monday, February 12. You do not need to be an art student to help.

Library Olympics!  Before school at 7:40am next week Wednesday & Thursday.  Get your team together for Library/Book Trivia.  Make a team of no more than 4 members and compete for great prizes.  Donuts!!  Show your USA Olympic Spirit and come dressed in your Red, White and Blue for a special treat. See Mrs. Phelps or Ms. Hartenbach to enter your team. 

The JV Girls Basketball team ended their season with a win over Handley last Friday 51-15.  Olivia Miller, Cami Prunty, and Hailey Brewer each scored 9 points.  Jenna Burkehamer added 8 and Brooklyn Crate contributed 7.  Congratulations to all the players on a great team win and a great season.

Brian Hua and Kimberly Warnagiris will represent James Wood at the 4A State Swimming Championships in Richmond this coming weekend. Kim placed 4th in the 200 individual medley at the 4C Regional Championships this past Friday in 2:10.16 and 3rd in the 100 yard butterfly in :57.45 which also improved her school record in the event. Brian placed 9th in the 100 yard butterfly in :56.00, which met the state qualifying standard. 

The Colonels advanced five wrestlers from the 4C Regional Championship which was held on Friday at Sherando.  Aaron Curd won the 152 pound division, Luke Roy placed 2nd at 195, Josh Arce (120) and Joey Vitola (138) placed third, and Vince Caruso placed fourth at 113 pounds.  The team placed 3rd overall with 139 points. 

Good luck to the girls’ basketball team which hosts Fauquier tonight in the first round of the district tournament.  Game time is 6:00 PM and ticket price is $6.00 for tournament games.
