Morning Announcements for Thursday, August 17, 2017

  • Today's Menu: Pizza, Turkey Wrap, Meat Ball Sub, Vegetable Soup with Crackers, Steamed Broccoli, Tomato Cup, Fresh Grapes, & Applesauce.
  • Just a reminder that in order to park in the school parking lot, you need to purchase a parking permit. There will be NO parking for students on the front row or back row of the parking lot this year. Permits are $75.00, please see Mr. Stiles in the main office.
  • The James Wood golf team placed 4th in Monday's Northwestern District Mini #2 at Fauquier Springs Golf Club. Senior Tyler Mounts finished second overall with a 72 score for the 18 holes. The team hosts Handley this afternoon.
  • TSA (Technology Student Association) will be conducting its first meeting on Wednesday, September 6, in room 128 after school at 2:35. Any student interested in learning more about TSA or wanting to become a member please come to this meeting. 
  • FFA will be having their first monthly meeting August 29, 2:15 to 7 pm at Marker Miller Farm Market. If you do not drive, you will need to ride the bus there and parents will need to pick you up. If you drive, you must wait and leave at 2:30 pm. Sign-ups are in rooms 123, 129 and the shop. Lots of activities will be happening out at the market. Dinner will be served!!
  • Placement testing for Dual Enrollment will be held after school Monday, August 21 through Thursday, August 24. Please sign up to reserve your seat with Mrs. Furman in Guidance. 
  • The library staff is looking for 10-12th graders who are interested in being a library aide during their study hall.  Please stop by the library for more information, if you are interested. 
  • James Wood girls interested in trying out for the softball teams in spring 2018 are invited to attend an information meeting on August 23 at 2:45 PM in the library.  Information on off-season workouts will be provided at the meeting.
  • Malloy Ford will host a Drive 4UR School event this Saturday from 10:00 AM-4:00 PM. Every test drive of a new Ford vehicle will raise $20 towards the JWAA athletic and scholarship funds--up to $6000!  With the JWAA Kickoff the same day starting at 1:00 PM, this is a perfect time to test out a Ford AND raise money for the Colonels! You must be 18 to participate.
  • The student run Google Helpdesk will be available in the library and cafeteria during some mornings and most lunches and Study Halls daily. Please feel free to bring your Chromebook to the Helpdesk if you have any questions or need a quick charge for your battery.
