Seeking Class of 2019 Parents to Help Plan Next Year's Prom

The Sophomore Class of 2019 is in the process of planning the prom for next school year. We are in need of parents to help us with the planning, organizing, and decorating. Also, if you know of any persons and/or organizations that may be willing to make monetary contributions or donations to aide with decorations please let us know that as well. Summer Youth Sports Camps - Basketball & Soccer

June 20 - 23
Register now for youth ages 5 to 14 to participate in summer sports camps at James Wood High School. Both camps will be offered Tuesday, June 20, through Friday, June 23, 2017. Basketball runs 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and Soccer will be offered from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mail in your registration today, or contact Brian Sullivan for more information.

Camp Wood for Rising Freshmen

Registration has begun for rising freshmen to participate in Camp Wood, a free 2-day camp held at James Wood High School in July. Choose one of two sessions, July 12-13 or July 26-27. Camp begins promptly at 8:50 a.m. and lasts until noon. Learn your way around the school, get a head start on your freshman year, meet helpful upperclassmen and make new friends! You'll have the chance to win prizes and learn more about James Wood High. Become a Colonel, and make the move from middle school to high school simple and exciting! Register for Camp Wood today.


Football Coach Announces Retirement

James Wood High School football coach Mark McHale has resigned after leading the Colonels for the past four seasons. McHale, who also serves as a physical education teacher at James Wood, plans to retire at the conclusion of the 2016-17 school year.


Principal Joe Salyer Announces Retirement
April 27, 2017
James Wood High School Principal Joe Salyer has announced his retirement effective June 30. Mr. Salyer has served Frederick County Public Schools for 40 years and has been the principal at JWHS for more than 13 years.

A professional photographer will be taking candid photos throughout the graduation ceremony, to include presentation of diplomas, handshake photos and posed portraits as graduates return to their seats. Graduates will receive an informational card. Place orders online.


June 2017 Calendar2016-17 Make-up Day Information

As noted on the 2016-17 School Calendar, the three days of school missed due to inclement weather on March 14-16 will be made up on June 6, 7 and 8. The last day of school is now Thursday, June 8.
